Bully-bonding / Chrissy Ciancanelli, 2005 August 6
Scope and Contents note
Ciancanelli examines many forms of torment, torture and gaming that is initiated by an individual who is either larger in size or older in age than their subject, often males. Such acts, termed bully-bonding, are explored through the first-hand accounts of various individuals in Ciancanelli's piece. Motives behind bully-bonding are explored, including entertainment, retaliation, to inflict pain or harm and as a concrete display of power. Also, the phenomenon of a bonding solidarity occurring between the inflictor and their subject, particularly in a sibling setting, is discussed. Created by Chrissy Ciancanelli while enrolled in Jacqueline Thursby's English 495 course during Fall Semester of 2005.
