Testimony meetings shenanigans : story-monies / Daren Harris, 2005
Scope and Contents note
Harris' project deals with testimony meetings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, during which members of the congregation declare their beliefs. Harris collects stories of testimonies his informants heard and considered unusual. He analyzes why different people might find different things in a testimony humorous or inappropriate. Harris discusses the context of the person giving the testimony and the pragmatic effect on the audience, noting that the purpose of sharing testimonies is to strengthen one another's faith. Created by Daren Harris when he was enrolled in Eric Eliason's English 392 class during fall semester 2005.
