Discusses various advantages of bartering in businesses. Explains that bartering can also be beneficial to individuals because it allows people to exchange something they are willing to give up for something they want more. Discusses the element of challenge or adventure in bartering and the accompanying sense of achievement. Discusses bartering as an expression of the American spirit of freedom. Includes stories of informants' bartering experiences. Created by Charlotte Dunne while she was enrolled in Jill Terry Rudy's English 392 class during Fall Semester 2003.
