Scope and Contents
Materials contain a memoir focusing on Willis Hone Brimhall's personal history and employment opportunities prior to his enlistment in the U.S. Navy. He discusses the general attitudes pervading his community and the country during the mid- to late- 1930s as war was brewing, and those same attitudes after the United States had been drawn into the war following Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor. Also discusses his military service as a radio operator and aviation technician, never having to enter a theater of combat. Photographs show Brimhall and Ted Esklund, a classmate who was killed in action in Europe, in full military dress. Dated 1943-1944, 2001.
