Donated to the Nurses at War Project, contains a memoir of Dorothy Yvonne Rasmussen regarding her service in the U.S. Air Force Nurse Corps during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1970 and in the Reserves from 1970 to 1988. Talks about her education at nursing school and in mental health. Talks about her decision to join the Air Force. Describes the fatigues they were required to wear. Also describes the terrible conditions during the Tet Offensive and taking care of Americans, Vietnamese civilians, Koreans, and even Australians. Talks about some experiences during her time in Vietnam. Talks about the depression she experienced upon returning to the States, where Vietnam veterans were often looked down on. Discusses the impact of her military experience in her life and reasons why she is not married. Discusses her feelings about the war in Vietnam and compares that to the war in Iraq.
