Caption on item: "Ocean-going vessels come up New York Slough from San Francisco Bay to the large wharf at the Pittsburgh, California Plant of Columbia Steel Company, a subsidiary of United States Steel Corporation. The “Minot Victory” is shown berthed at the wharf for the unloading of semi-finished steel into gondola cars, which will carry them to the mills for processing. The pier is equipped with powerful lights for unloading operations at night."
