Scope and Contents note

Includes a list of spices and their traditional and folkloric associations (for example, rosemary is associated with remembrance and fidelity) from such cultures or civilizations as Chinese, Hindu, Italian, Greco-Roman, and European. Includes results of a survey the author administered to several informants to determine what spices they associate with different holidays or events. Survey responses also include recipes and personal experiences involving spices or spicy food. Created by Rachael Lauritzen while she was enrolled in Jill Terry Rudy's English 495 class during Winter Semester 2000.
