Behind the mask : outlooks from the guardians : a collection of folklore of hockey's goaltenders / Brent Taylor, 2004
Scope and Contents note
Taylor takes a look into common traits that hockey goalies share that make them unique to the general public, and to the sport. He fights against the stereotype that goalies are stupid and that they have a odd enjoyment of pain. His informants contend that goalies feel an overwhelming responsibility for the outcome of the game, hold a special love for the sport to endure the pain, and that they are in fact apart from other hockey players. Taylor collected the interviews while taking English 391 taught by Dr. Bell at Brigham Young University during the Winter semester 2004
