Materials contain a World War II memoir of John Hortt Adams regarding his service as a Cadet Midshipman and engineer on the Flying Yankee and U.S.S. Herald of the Morning in the U.S. Merchant Marines from 1944- 1946. Describes how he grew up in Kanab, Utah, and was hired by Lockheed while a sophomore at Brigham Young University in 1941, to work on the P-38 planes in Los Angeles, California. Discusses his marriage to Betty Adams before being drafted as a Merchant Marine and his training in Coyote Point in San Mateo, California. Dated approximately 2000.
