Materials contain memoir written by Gordon Keith Risser about his service as a Frogman and as part of the Office of Strategic Services Maritime Unit in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Includes his training in the Bahama Islands, combat experiences on the Palau Islands, the island of Leyte, and Luzon Bay in the Philippines; and encounters with Kamikaze pilots. Includes periodical articles (1952,1998), newspaper clippings (1946), photocopied photographs (1942-1944) and photocopied military documents (1946, 1998-1999). Also contains a brief letter by Risser's wife, VaNile Lewis Risser (2001), about his service during the war. Dated 1942-2001.
