Materials contain papers of Melvin R. Murray regarding his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Contains typed and handwritten copies of a memoir that describe his ship's operations in New Guinea, the Philippines, Bougainville, and Okinawa. Contains a copy of a report describing the kamikaze attack on Murray's ship in 1945. Contains a letter written to Murray by a friend in 1998. Includes copied photographs of Murray and his family. Dated 1945, 1998-2002.
