Scope and Contents note

Materials contain Max Dickson's account of his military experiences in the U.S. Navy Air Corps during World War II as an aviation radioman in a torpedo bomber. Describes his nine combat missions over Japan, and where he was when Pearl Harbor was attacked. He explains the reasons why he joined the Army and the good attitude he had during his training. Talks about how his belief in God was strengthened from being around soldiers that set good examples. He explains in detail the training he received before he was sent into combat. Also included a copied photograph of Halsey's Third Fleet in Tokyo Bay at the signing of the peace treaty and a copied aerial photograph of a prisoner of war camp in Tokyo. Includes a letter awarding the Air Medal to Dickson. Dated 1945-2001.
