Materials contain papers relating to Edward L. Hart, who served as an Ensign, I-V assigned to U.S. Navy Communications Annex as an intelligence officer during World War II from 1942 to 1946. Hart was assigned to the Communication Annex in Washington, D.C., with duties of interpreting and code-breaking. He notes that conventional bombing did not win the war and that the A-bomb was the best option. Includes photo portrait of Hart in uniform and copies of official correspondence (1946). Also contains the audio log for his interview (circa 1998), as well as Hart’s thoughts on the tragedy of September 11, 2001 in comparison with the bombing at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Dated 1946-2002.
