Materials contain papers relating to the military service of Olin M. Hopkins in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946 during World War II. File includes a summary of the battle history of the U.S.S. Belleau Woods, and events that Hopkins witnessed while aboard. Includes his encounter with Chester W. Nimitz, Kamikaze attacks, deaths of his brothers, and landing on Japan. Includes photocopied newspaper clippings, photographs, military citations, excerpts from periodicals, and poetry written by Hopkins. Dated July 24, 2001.
