Scope and Contents

Materials contain papers of Ralph W. Hammond regarding his service in the U.S. Army Air Corps and U.S. Air Force from 1942-1950 and from 1953-1966. Contains a questionnaire done by Hammond, a military history (circa 2002), and photocopied photographs of Hammond and his aircrew. Describes his service as a pilot in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. Relates an experience when his crew was held captive in the Soviet Union from September 1944-Februaru 1945. Describes his work in the War Department, as a pilot instructor, and his participation in the Berlin Airlift. Dated approximately 1942, 2002.
