Theron W. Borup papers, 1993, 2000, 1943-1945
Scope and Contents
Materials contain an extremely detailed collection recounting Theron W. Borup’s military experiences in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific. Most prominent is an autobiography describing his military life, bombing missions, interactions with other Latter-day Saint servicemen, and his leadership role in the Latter-day Saint military branch. It also includes a photocopied letter, letters, and telegrams, informing Borup's wife that he was missing in action, affirming his safety, from the parents of Borup's fallen comrades, and a thank-you from Thomas S. Monson for allowing is to use Borup’s rescue story in a General Conference talk. There are also photocopied photographs and articles detailing himself in uniform, his experiences, and his comrades. These experiences with pre- and post-war experiences are recounted again in his personal journals. Dated 1943-1945, 1993, and 2000.
