Scope and Contents
Materials contain a short memoir outlining Don Charles Bloomfield's military service in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941-1946 in the Philippines during the surprise attack on Clark Field, his capture at Bataan, and his internment in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp for the duration of World War II. Describes his health, the living conditions in the prisoner-of-war camp, and his early death after returning to the United States. Includes photocopies of a war rations book, newspaper articles about Bloomfield, telegrams sent from his POW camp, and a photograph of him with his wife after the war. Dated 1942-1945, approximately 2001.
