Scope and Contents

Materials contain excerpts from a book of memoirs written by Fred G. Beebe detailing his military service. Memoir describes his duties and memories as manager of the field-grade officers' hotel in Kyoto, Japan. Also includes two copies of a transcript of an interview conducted by Robert Freeman: the original and another copy edited by Beebe with additional insertions. Interview emphasizes Beebe's post-war life. Photographs within memoir show Beebe in military dress, with his wife Kathleene Beebe, and with his father. Also includes photograph of Generals Eikleberger, Woodruff, and Eisenhower exiting the hotel he managed in Kyoto. Dated December 15, 2000, approximately 2001.
