The National Folk Organization (1986- ) is committed to the preservation and promotion of the folk art traditions.

Vytautas F. Beliajus, Mary Bee Jensen, George Frandsen, and L. DeWayne Young founded the National Folk Organization (NFO) in 1986 to provide information and opportunities in the folk arts around the United States.

Many of its members include persons involved in dance ensembles, institutions, music groups, choreographers, teachers, and foundations, as well as community ethnic festivals, and international festivals that host folk ensembles from around the world.
