J. Robert Bullock memoir, before 2001
Scope and Contents note
Materials contain the portion of J. Robert Bullock's memoir concerning his military years in the U.S. Navy from 19441-1946. Discusses his induction, his first assignment in submarine-chasers school and his transfer to be the commanding officer of a small amphibious craft based in England used in the Normandy D-Day invasion as an anti-aircraft gunship. Also discusses Bullock's subsequent transfer to the Pacific theater, his command of an LCS, and his ship's involvement in both the defense of Okinawa and the Japanese post-war occupation. Also includes a short description of the role that LCS craft (littoral combat ship) played in the Pacific Theater. Photographs within the memoir show Bullock in full military dress and with his crew aboard his ships. Dated before 2001.
