Scope and Contents note

Materials contain detailed memoir in which Ririe discusses his military experiences, including being captured by the Germans. Provides details of Latter-Day Saint church services in the camp, failed escape attempts, humorous aspects of their internment, forms of entertainment, air raids, sanitary conditions, hunger, cold, his liberation and return home. Contains humorous quotes from the mail of fellow prisoners of war. Includes story of a fellow prisoner, Blaine Harris, regarding his crash and saving two members of his crew. Also includes photocopies of the following items: two photographs of Ririe and his crew; his "morale chart" indicating his feelings during his months as a prisoner; Latter-Day Saint Sunday School minutes from the prison camp; and a drawing of his prison barracks. Dated 1943-1945, before 2001.
