Scope and Contents

Contains correspondence, articles, and biographical materials pertaining to Owen S. Rich. The correspondence and articles include materials related to Rich's professional activities, including radio and television broadcasting history, texts and guides for BYU courses, workshops and studies on television, records on BYU's Christmas show, as well as news clippings and photographs. Also contains minutes and records from various organizations, namely the Association for Professional Broadcasting Education (APBE) and Utah Association of Educational Broadcasters (UAEB). Biographical materials include autobiographies, interviews for BYU broadcasting-related projects, speeches, as well as a biography of Rich's wife Ora, 1949-2012.

Biographical History

From the Collection:

Owen S. Rich (1922- ) is a professor of mass media education in Utah.

Owen S. Rich was born in Idaho in 1922. He received his bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University (BYU), and a Ph.D. from Penn State University. He worked as a faculty member in the Communications Department at Brigham Young University, and helped establish KBYU.
