Scope and Contents note
Material contains papers relating to the military service of Charles M. Mahoney in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-1946. Contains excerpts taken by Mahoney in 1995 from letters he wrote to his family from 1944 to 1945. Also includes copies of some of Mahoney's handwritten letters. Contains a history written by Mahoney about his training and service in France, Germany, and Czechoslovakia, and occupation duty in Austria. Discusses experience in combat as part of an artillery battalion and involvement with the Battle of the Bulge. Also contains photocopied photographs from 1944 and a photocopied history of the 276th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. Dated 1941-2000.
