General

Note on verso: "Helen foster snow (Athens, FEb, 1973) with two crew-cut veteran Red Guards of the Cultural Revoution, Su Wan-cheng (The new Socialst Man of China) so nof a factory worker of Canton (on her left) and another secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Athens (name lost). They took me to the Parthenon and we discuessed the ancient clan and ancestory-worship of the Greeks. We had instant communication and friendship--because they looked upon me as a living legend, as the author of Inside Red China, 1939, one of the two most influential books by Westerners ever published in Chinese (except Marxist texts)--the other being Red Star Over China by Edgar Snow. We all said none of us has ever had more fun than going around ancient Greek temples and talking about ancient China and the similarities and contrasts.I never had more fun in my life than in Greece escorted by these two to Delphi etc. and by Chu Kuei-yu. 1st Secy.not in pix- but these youths are deadly serious just the same. I am wearing an Egyptian Camera Case."
