Scope and Contents

Handwritten diary of John covering the remainder of his life from May 1903-December 1908. Includes descriptions of his experiences in his duties as president of the Utah Stake and as vice president of the Brigham Young University Board of Trustees. Most of the contents are of administering to the sick, blessings given, conferences and other meetings attended, dreams and visions received, funerals attended and spoke at, letters sent or received, priesthood ordinations given, organizations of local Church units, and remarks given by John or others on gospel topics. The last entries appear to have been written by John's son, David John, Jr., and include accounts of John's death on December 24, 1908, and funeral services on December 27. After these entries are some entries of genealogical data pertaining to the family, up to 1951. Includes some newspaper clippings of obituaries, including Johns and related persons. Dated 1903-1951.
