Note on verso: "87. Thanks to America! are rendered by this Red machine-gun squad, operating an American gun captured from Kuomintang troops during one of the battles in the Northwest. The main forces of the Red Army are now better-equipped, thanks to American, British, Czecho-Slovakian and other foreign arms-makers, than ever before, for the guns sold recently by those countries to the 'anti-bandit' forces of the Kuomintang have a way of ending up in the Red hands, after a few battles. Photo by Edgar Snow, 1936."
