Scope and Contents

Materials include an original letter from John K. Kane to his mother, Elizabeth Kintzing Kane, saying that he arrived in Washington late last night. John writes that his uncle Elias Kane is also there with all his family and his cousin Elias Kent Kane is visiting from Illinois. He says that he is leaving tomorrow for Fredericksburg, the commission has promised to supply labor, and he is concerned about the demeanor of Congressional leaders from the South. Dated December 14, 1832.
