Scope and Contents note

Letter from Stenhouse to Thomas L. Kane, replies to a letter of Thomas L. Kane's, asks questions about the reasons for the Mormon Battalion, thanks to one of Thomas L. Kane's own statements he hopes Young won't be convicted for the murders [Mountain Meadows?], but "they undoubtedly were committed with the knowledge of the priesthood." Dated January 5, 1872.
