Scope and Contents note
Letter from John M. Bernhisel, Washington, to Thomas L. Kane, saying that his account with the Treasury Department over books for the Utah Library is nearly settled. [Jedediah M.?] Grant will be in Philadelphia and the returned officers say that Brigham Young ordered an election to be held under the provisional laws of Deseret. He mentions a letter from General Robert Wilson that was published in the New York Tribune and suggests using it in the statement to be published by Grant. Dated February 7, 1852.
