Scope and Contents
Journal written by Elizabeth Wood Kane, recording mainly family matters, including the birth of babies in their family, her visit to her sister's home in New York for the marriage of her niece, some of her family history research, and matters involving the family business. The journal also documents Kane's participation in the Woman's Christian Temperance Union meetings and her visits to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to see senators and the governor. She also writes about writing her father's memoir, her son Elisha's financial difficulty, and experiences of women campaigning for temperence and suffrage. Dated January 1, 1895 through December 31, 1895.
