Elizabeth Wood Kane journal, 1860-1863
Scope and Contents
Journal written by Elizabeth Wood Kane containing accounts of her daily activities, the troubles of friends and family, and her husband Thomas L. Kane's accomplishments as well as her own accomplishments, endeavors, and concerns. She writes about troubles within the United States, including the Civil War and its battles, her husband's injuries sustained in Dranesville, Virginia, and his capture in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She includes some photographs of family members and accounts of her travels and visits with her husband. The journal was kept between June 26, 1860 and July 8, 1863.
