Biographical History
Robert L. Poast was born in 1942 in Washington, DC. He attended school in Ohio, Florida, and California. A friend invited him to attend BYU. It was there that he learned about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized two days before leaving to fight in the Vietnam War to fulfill his draft notice. He was trained as a pilot. After the War, he flew helicopters for the Ohio National Guard. He also became a middle school and high school shop teacher.
