Note on verso: "58. An American army coat is the proudest possession an Igorot hillman can own. American policy toward the Igorots has been on the whole very intelligent, and pioneer workers among them early won Igorot confidence and loyalty. In former times no Spaniard dared venture alone among these wild men, and scores lost their heads to them. Even lone American women nowadays travel through their territory without fear. Although tribal murders are still frequent, and lowland Filipinos are often waylaid in their hills, no American has been killed by Igorots for many years."
