Magnum b-8 note: "Hsu Hai-tung (General), IMPORTANT PIX, still with the Peking govt. and on the Central Committee as of 1969 at least. He was all-round the most attractive person in the army and the friendliest to foreigners. He was a folk-hero; nearly his whole clan was annihilated because he joined the Communists in Hupeh. I think of him as one of my most delightful experiences; he made a point of calling on me every day while he was in Yenan, which was only a few days."
