Biographical History

From the Collection:

Herald R. Clark (1890-1966) was a business professor and college administrator in Utah.

Herald Ray Clark was born on October 18, 1890 in Farmington, Utah to Amasa Lyman Clark and Alice Charlotte Steed. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a missionary in the Northern States Mission from 1910 to 1913. He later married Mabel Hone in 1915 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Clark joined the commerce faculty of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah in 1913. He later served as dean of the College of Commerce (later College of Business) from 1934 to 1951. During this time he was also involved in the university's Lyceum program, assisted in art acquisitions, as well as acting as bookstore manager from 1915 to 1952. He also remained active in the Church, serving as bishop in the Sixth Ward and as a member of the Utah Stake presidency.

Herald R. Clark died in Provo, Utah on May 24, 1966.
