Scope and Contents

William's well stops working. He goes to the hospital to be inspected concerning his health issues. He writes of his family's dealings and interactions. He writes of a lake vacation he takes with his family and of his quiet hatred of the lake. William's son Mike is selected as a candidate for mayor. Later, Mike has to get surgery to remove malignant infection. William and Carol start working toward serving a mission together. They get their call to Texas and begin their mission serving in Gainesville City. William's first impressions of the city and his living circumstances are bleak, but he and Carol begin their missionary work.
