Magnum c-81 note: "Bridge over a stream with people on it, cannot identify them. I took this on the way back from Yenan, see p. 293 of Inside Red China. It is of Sanyuan a pretty little town where big landlords lived in gracious houses (or had lived). We stayed in Sanyuan and looked around awhile I remember. I wonder if Po Ku's wife is on the bridge--she and I took rickshas from here to Yun-yang. Sanyuan was the town I had to get to when I escaped from Sian in April."

General

Note written on photograph: "This woman is foreign. You are dressed in exact same outfit as when with Fitch before escape from Sian...Any idea who the foreign lady is? and soldier?"
