Scope and Contents

Contains audiocassette tapes with material relevant to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and other religious entities. Cassettes come from a variety of sources, with the most prominent being the Sunstone Symposium and local Utah radio stations such as KSL, KTKK, and Radio West. Specific programs include Religon Today, Religion on the Line, and Mormon Miscellaneous. Recordings of General Conferences and talks given by prominent church leaders are also included. Programs listed on cassettes are dated 1954 to 2014.

Administrative History

KSL Newsradio (est. 1922) is an AM/FM radio station in Salt Lake City, Utah.

KSL Newsradio first aired as the AM radio version for the Deseret news on May 6, 1922 under the call letters KZN. In 1932, the station joined CBS Radio Network until 73 years later when it switched to ABC News Radio in 2005. Programming consisted of news broadcasts along with different talk shows. The station first tried out FM broadcasting in 1947, and a few years later it switched to playing "beautiful music." The stations are now branded as "KSL Newsradio 102.7 FM and 1160 AM."

Administrative History

KTKK (1960-2017) was a radio broadcasting program in Sandy, Utah.

KTKK 630am began under the call-sign KSXX in the 1960's playing music. In 1965 it switched to hosting talk shows. The station changed its call sign to KZJO in 1982 and began playing music again, but six months later returned to talk radio. Finally, on August 5, 1985 the station changed the call sign to KTKK. The station shared tower space with KLLB when housing development displaced its previous tower. The station moved all programing to 1640 AM and signed off on May 1, 2017. The station surrendered the KTKK license on September 27, 2017 and was cancelled the next day by the Federal Communications Commission.

Focused on art, history, politics, and culture in the Western U.S. and specifically Utah, the radio show often covers topics related to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The show is hosted by Doug Fabrizio and has seen many notable guests over the years.
