Biographical History

Durward Eugene Shreve was born March 26, 1920 to Sterling Graham and Artie (Groves) Shreve in Marion, Illinois. He attended Southern Illinois University and was granted his diploma prior to his entering the draft on April 24th, 1942. He was called overseas on the USS Mariposa with the United States Army Air Corps on December 10, 1942. Durward served in Egypt and Sicily during World War II and participated in the Invasion of Sicily in July 1943 when the US Navy misfired on US aircraft. He later served in England from June 1944 until May 1945. He was discharged in September 1945. Durward married Eudoris Seltzer on October 22, 1946 in Thorndale, Texas. In December 1950, he joined the United States Air Force Reserve Forces. He became the Deputy Finance Officer in Greenville, South Carolina prior to his tour in the Korean War. Durward and Eudoris had three children and lived in Austin, Texas. Durward passed away on December 3, 2009.

Autobiography of Durward Eugene (D.E.) Shreve, born March 26, 1920, in Crab Orchard, Illinois. Shreve grew up in Illinois and joined the United States Air Force, fighting in North Africa, Siciliy, and England during WWII. He later fought in the Korean War as well, and retired from the Air Force Reserves in Texas in 1970.
