Speech delivered by E. Kent Kaneat the Utah State Capitol at the dedication of Nicholas Morgan's statue of Thomas L. Kane as the "Friend of the Mormons," 14 January, 1959. Considers "the great aims of his life accomplished: 1) To see his Pennsylvania settlement named for him, alive and happy. 2) To see his Mormon friends safe and prosperous, respected and happy. 3) To see his country free of slavery and and still united with his beloved Pennsylvania still called the Kenystone state and Alaska which he battled to acquire just made our 49th state," photocopy of handwritten copy is 9 pp., typescript is 4 pp.
