Scope and Contents

This second volume of James Richard Bodily diaries continues to document his labors in the Southern States Mission. In this volume Elder Bodily documents the weather as well as people he meets with and teaches. Most of the volume, about 60 pages, includes information pertaining the Bodily's mission from February 23, 1899, until the day he left on August 23, 1899. The remaining pages of the volume, about 15 pages, relate to his return to Idaho and some of his activities there, up to April 20, 1900.

Bodily only writes up to page 76, and then adds a hand-written transcription of a letter from the president of the Southern States Mission to the missionaries, dated June 16, 1899, regarding the mission commissary and the need for missionaries to contribute funds to pay back those who borrowed from it. This is followed by an undated poem with the title "The End of the World."
