Note on verso: "Edgar Snow, at 21 Mei Cha Hutung, our first Chinese house in , Peking with out dog Gobi. He had just publisehd his first book Far Eastern Front, 1933, and just written his first article for the Saturday Evening Post Pix by Helen Foster Snow. He is in riding pants-- we used to ride cross country and had our own pony; Ed owned 1/2 a black pony with a dentist, Jack Wolfe. Pix by HFS."
