Biographical History

Brigham Young was born in Whitingham, Vermont on June 1, 1801. He was by trade a carpenter. He was a prominent leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, leading the Mormon pioneers to Utah in 1847. He was the influence behind the founding of the Brigham Young Academy in 1875, later to become the Brigham Young University. Brigham Young died on August 29th, 1877.
