Photographs of cast members and scenes from plays sponsored by the Department of Public Speaking, 1920-1928; and the Department of Speech, 1929-1937. Some of the images are accompanied by programs.

Restricted. Closed for 35 years from the date of creation of the records, and thereafter open to the public in accordance with the University Archives Policy.

It is the responsibility of the researcher to obtain any necessary copyright clearances. Permission to publish material from Speech Department photographs must be obtained from the Supervisor of Reference Services and/or the L. Tom Perry Special Collections Board of Curators.

Administrative History

The Department of Speech was established early in the history of Brigham Young University. It became the Department of Speech and Dramatic Arts and eventually evolved into two departments--Theatre and Media Arts and Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology.
