History of the Masters of Social Work
Scope and Contents
History documenting the first twenty-five years of the Master's of Social Work degree at Brigham Young University. The volume has information on the mission of the program, the buildings the program has resided in, the directors of the program and class photographs for each graduating class. It also includes a photograph of the 2007-2008 faculty.

It is the responsibility of the researcher to obtain any necessary copyright clearances. Permission to publish material from History of the Masters of Social Work must be obtained from the Supervisor of Reference Services. and/or the L. Tom Perry Special Collections Board of Curators.
Administrative History
Courses in Social Work began to be offered at Brigham Young University in the 1960s. Eventually the Social Work Program was established in the Department of Sociology. In 1976 the Department of Sociology was renamed the Department of Sociology and Social Work. In 1978 the Department of Social Work was established and in 1985 it became the School of Social Work. Master's degrees in Social Work were offered begining in 1983.
