Brigham Young Academy (1875-1903) was established by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints under the direction of Brigham Young for the instruction of church members in the area of Provo, Utah.

Brigham Young Academy was the predecessor to Brigham Young University and Brigham Young High School. Brigham Young saw the school as a place where all secular learning should be fused with teachings from the scriptures. Despite steady growth during its early years, the Academy was threatened by a series of financial and physical setbacks. With the help and sacrifice of Abraham O. Smoot, the campus moved in 1891 to new facilities on University Avenue in Provo Utah. The Academy's curriculum strengthened and enrollment grew. In 1903, the name was officially changed to Brigham Young University.

Brigham Young Academy principals included Warren N. Dusenberry (1876), Karl G. Maeser (1876-1892), and Benjamin Cluff (1892-1903).

Willard Done (1865-1931) was a teacher and academic administrator in Utah.

Willard Done was born on December 10, 1865 in Moroni, Utah to John Done and Sarah Barker, and grew up in Payson, Utah. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Done attended Brigham Young Academy in Provo, Utah. While a student he was active in the Polysophical Society, and served as an assistant to James E. Talmage during the 1877-1878 school year.

After graduating with a normal degree in 1883, Done joined the Academy faculty as head of the Primary and Preparatory departments, where he served from 1884 to 1886. During this time, Done also supervised the Academy Boarding House and acted as the school's librarian. In December 1885, Done married Sarah A. Forbes, and together they had ten children.

In 1886, Karl G. Maeser selected Done to help establish the Salt Lake Stake Academy. Done moved to Salt Lake, where he served as the institution's first teacher and functioning principal. In 1892, after completing a bachelor's degree in didactics, Done became the principal of what was then called the Latter-day Saints' College (LDS College). He resigned in 1899 and briefly joined the faculty of Brigham Young College in Logan, Utah.

After the 1899-1900 school year, Done returned to teach in Salt Lake City. During this time he also served as secretary to the Young Men's Mutual Improvement Association for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1902 he was also elected to the Utah House of Representatives.

By 1920, Done had left the teaching profession to become an insurance agent. Between 1925 and 1926 he also served as a missionary in the Western States Mission. He passed away on January 10, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
