This collection details the workings of the Brigham Young University Department of Student Auxiliary Services. It is comprised of staff minutes, programs, clippings, and reports outlining the various objects and activities which the Student Auxiliary Services dealt with.

Restricted. Closed for 35 years from the date of creation of the records, and thereafter open to the public in accordance with the University Archives Policy.

It is the responsibility of the researcher to obtain any necessary copyright clearances. Permission to publish material from Records must be obtained from the Supervisor of Reference Services and/or the L. Tom Perry Special Collections Board of Curators.

Administrative History

The Student Auxiliary Services (SAS) is comprised of Auxiliary Maintenance, the Bookstore, Wilkinson Student Center, Facility Services, Dining Services, Housing, Materials Management, SAS Conference Services, Student Life Computer Support, Student Life/SAS Controllers Officer, Student Life Creative Marketing, and Vending and Concessions. Their motto is "We build Zion by providing quality goods and services to enrich the learning environment." Organized during the Wilkinson Administration it first consisted of Food Services, the BYU Bookstore, the BYU Farms, Student Housing, University Press, Mail Services, Laundry and Motion Picture Productions. These areas became self-sustaining during the Wilkinson Administration.
