Scope and Contents

Contains a wood initiation paddle for the Viking social unit at Brigham Young University. The paddle is inscribed as being for "Scrud--Peterson". Signatures of other Viking members are written directly on the paddle. Materials dated 1950.

Administrative History

Viking (1928-1962) was a social unit for male students at Brigham Young University. Viking was established by Brigham Young University's Inter-Social Unit Council on October 10, 1928. Viking and all social units associated with the university were disbanded at the end of the 1961-1962 school year as a result of increased selectivity.

Biographical History

Glenn C. Peterson (1930-) is a Brigham Young University alumnus from Ogden, Utah. When he attended Brigham Young University in the 1950s, he was a member of the Viking social unit. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1957.
