Biographical History

R. Wayne Shute (1933-) was a coordinator for the Office of Community Education at Brigham Young University.

Reginald Wayne Shute was born on April 25, 1933 in Tuberose, Saskatchewan. He married Lorna Claire Hart in 1959. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from BYU. From 1961 to 1964 he was the chairman of BYU's California Adult Education and Extension Center in Los Angeles. In 1964 he became a coordinator for the Office of Community Education at Brigham Young University. In 1997 he was called as president of the Apia Samoa Temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A BYU professor emeritus in the David O. McKay School of Education, he received a doctorate in education from the University of Southern California. He also served as a mission president for the Samoa mission.
