Biographical / Historical

From the Collection:

The Electronic Media Department was established in 1968 to manage audio and sound services on the university campus. In 1977, it was integrated into the newly established Media Services division. In 1993, it was dissolved as an independent unit.

Directors included Dean M. Austin (1968-1977) and Ralph O. Hickenlooper (1977-1993).

Biographical / Historical

From the Collection:

Media Services was established in 1976 as part of a reorganization of the Division of Learning Resources. The new unit managed Broadcast Services, the Department of Motion Picture Production, Electronic Media Department, Marketing Department, and Sound Services Department. Between 1978 and 1981, Media Services also worked with Learning Services and the David O. McKay Institute to administer campus Learning Resource Centers. In 1999 Media Services was dissolved and its departments became a part of Information Technology Services.

Directors included William Dewey Farnsworth (1976-1983) and D. Dean VanUitert (1983-1999).
